Brethren Christian Winner of 12th Annual Orange County Arts Achievement Award!

Three Helena Modjeska Cultural Legacy Awards will be bestowed for lifetime achievement:
• artistic visionary Dean Corey, President & Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Society of Orange County, one of the community’s top performing arts presenters
• artist Rod Gilfry, one of the world’s preeminent baritones and an international star of grand opera and musical theatre
• Orange County’s oldest and most important cultural heritage site, Mission San Juan Capistrano. These honorees were selected by Arts Orange County’s executive committee
The five Annual Achievement Award recipients for 2011 include:
• arts patron (and longtime ArtsOC board member!) Patricia Poss of Fullerton, nominated by the Segerstrom Center for the Arts
Dr. Robert Frelly of Yorba Linda, Artistic Director and Conductor of the Southern California Youth Philharmonic and Director of Music Education at Chapman University
• Artist and illustrator, Sister Madeleva Williams, CSJ, of Orange, nominated by Noelle Communications
The All-American Boys Chorus of Costa Mesa, a 40 year old arts organization that has toured worldwide
Brethren Christian Junior & Senior High School of Huntington Beach, a small school with a big arts program
An independent panel of judges, including jazz saxophonist and 2010 Modjeska Cultural Legacy Award recipient Eric Marienthal of Huntington Beach; Bart McHenry, Dean of Fine Arts & Media Technology at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo; and arts patron Marilyn McIntyre of Newport Beach, made the final selections.
