Remembering former BC Teacher, Susan Saddler

On Saturday, September 7, 2019 we lost a wonderful “Warrior”, Susan Saddler, affectionately known as “Madame.”  The celebration of life on September 21 was attended by many current and past Brethren Christian faculty, staff, and alumni, and a plethora of family and friends from all walks of life.  It was great to see that all the seats were filled at Grace Brethren Church.

As a 15-year faculty member at Brethren Christian, “Madame” brought passion, light, joy and always “French” to everything she did or was a part of. (One former student commented that even in Wind Symphony class, while substituting for Mr. Montgomery, she spoke French.) She added adventure to the lives of her students through her imaginative lessons, food tastings and even summer trips to Europe.

Sue modeled Philippians 2:3-4; “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests but also for the interests of others.” All who knew Sue, saw this attitude continually evidenced in her life and personally experienced her unconditional love and mercy.

The celebration indeed paid tribute to a wonderful “Warrior” who touched each one of us in a special way. We are forever grateful for the years Sue spent with us and anticipate that day when we will all get to heaven, oh, what a day of rejoicing that will be!
