What accreditations does BCHS hold?
Brethren Christian is dually accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC) and Associated Christian Schools International (ACSI).
 
What percentage of BCHS students attend college?
Approximately 95% of BC graduates matriculate directly to college with the majority advancing directly to four year colleges and universities.
 
How are the academics at Brethren Christian?
BC offers an outstanding academic program that has been recognized by many outside organizations.  BC students consistently score two to three years above their grade level on standardized testing and score more than 100 points above the state and national averages on the College Board SATs.  BC's Advanced Placement Pass Rate is among the highest in Orange County.
What is the average class size?
The average academic class at Brethren Christian is approximately 19 students.
 
What is the length of the school day?
Our regular school day begins at 8:00 am and ends at 2:35 pm.
 
What is the daily schedule?
BC offers a hybrid schedule that allows for the best of both the seven-period day and block schedule.  Because some academic information is best retained with regular instruction, students take seven periods of classes, five days per week.  Approximately one week a month, the students attend their classes in a block schedule format to allow additional in-depth instruction, labs, and class project opportunities.
 
Do you accept International Students?
Yes, Brethren Christian has been approved by the Department of Homeland Security to issue I-20's to students who meet its admission criteria.
 
How can I get an application?

When do we need to apply for next year?
The school begins accepting applications in the fall for the following school year. 
Students in need of the Options Program should apply by the November prior to their desired year of enrollment.
 
Do you require an entrance exam?
The student's report card, latest standardized achievement scores, and teacher references are the basis for admission.  
 
Do you offer tours?
Yes, and there are multiple scheduled admission events each school year.  Please contact the office at  714.962.6617 to learn more.
 
What is the current cost of tuition?

Are there additional expenses?

Do you offer financial aid?
Yes, more than 25% of our students receive financial aid based on need.   Please click on "Tuition Assistance" under the "Admissions" menu bar selection of this website.
 
Do you offer scholarships?
Yes, we offer three types of scholarships - Academic, Pastor, and Christian School Employee.  Please click on "Scholarships" under the "Admissions" menu bar selection of this website to learn more. 
 
Do you provide transportation?  
Yes, the school provides a limited transportation service for a fee.   Please review the Bus Information page under the "Admissions" menu bar of this website.
 
Do you have a carpooling program?
The School offers the opportunity to complete the Car Pool Interest Form that will be included in the Re-enrollment packet (2015-16) and at Book Sales (especially for newly enrolled students) which provides information to parents to facilitate carpooling. BC students come from 30 Southern California communities, so it is likely you will find another BC family nearby.
 
Is there a hot lunch program?
Yes, hot meals are prepared onsite and are for sale for morning break and lunch every day. 
 
What is the dress code?
For details please review the Parent-Student Handbook under the "Campus Life" menu bar selection of this website.  In general, modesty, is the guiding principle.  No uniforms are required.
 
Do you require service hours for students?
Students are required to fulfill one day of service each year in our annual BC Blitz service outreach.  Many opportunities for service are provided.
 
Do you require volunteer hours for parents?
We request that each family donate 20 hours per year. These hours are a great way to draw closer to the school and meet new friends.  A volunteer notebook lists the many volunteering opportunities available on campus and is required but they are a great way to draw closer to the school and meet new friends.  A volunteer notebook, located in the school office, lists the many volunteering opportunities available on campus.
